On Wednesday, May 12th close to 100 people from of Pittsfield and the surrounding towns who support the Roger Clark Memorial Library gathered at The Clear River Tavern for the 3rd Annual Fundraising Dinner.

The attendees enjoyed a scrumptious spread titled "A World of Books - A World of Food" provided by Jason Evans and his staff.  Library trustees and volunteers once again outdid themselves with a great dessert buffet.  Matt Witten of the duo "Swing Peepers" provided entertainment for the kids, quite a few adults seemed to enjoy his silly humor and musical talent as well.

The Sponsor-A-Book program was well received and many attendees donated the funds needed to purchase the books on our wish list AND have a specially inscribed nameplate in a book of their choosing. Displays promoting library programs were viewed, including information on "Teen Night" and the upcoming Pittsfield  "Photo Contest".  And of course the Susie Martin "Volunteer of the Year" was announced.  Marion Abrams, RCML trustee chair, and the person most responsible for breathing life back into what was a dying library, was the logical choice.  The trick was to keep it a secret, which was accomplished! She was presented with a plaque, tiara and scepter...Congratulations Marion!!!

From all of the volunteers at RCML, we thank all who support and patronize the library, it is truly a community effort.

Fifteen teens and pre-teens from three different schools got together at the library last Friday night for pizza, a craft, and a movie.  Can we say sculpey?  Angelique showed the group techniques for making colorful sculpey pens- with everyone admiring each other's awesome designs, playing with sculpey clay proved to be very popular.  We had Picarillo's Pizza and dessert on the front porch, a quick session on the play ground, finished up our sculpey project and it was movie time!

Thank you to Nancy Blessing for providing us with a projector to show the movie "Up" and to Cassie Lee for her technical savvy.  Thanks to Sharon for securing the movie and all the help at teen night. And a big thank you to Angelique for organizing the program. Great Job!  Thank you to all the teens that joined us, we look forward to another Teen Night soon !
