Did you know there is an International Museum of Spies??!? It's in Washington, D.C. Here is a link to their website: https://www.spymuseum.org/ They have created the first of a series of videos called Spy from Home! How cool is that? Here's a link to the first one, where you can get some ideas and instructions for spy tools to make at home! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sP4cp_hUVcY&feature=youtu.be I'd love to hear about what you create, and how you use it!
Here's a lovely article from VPR about the folks who continue to work at ECHO, the Lake Champlain museum up in Burlington, taking care of the animals which live there. Included is a short video of their baby turtles having lunch!
https://www.vpr.org/post/pleasant-chaotic-experience-caring-echos-animals-through-coronavirus Here's a link to several easy Easter crafts you can do at home. I've watched the video; it looks like there is room to improvise with supplies, a bit, and make do with what you have to hand. Think of it as another chance to get really creative! Feel free to email Maya the Librarian to trouble-shoot! Have fun!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iuen42W9EtI Can't get enough of everyone's favorite wizards, witches, and magical creatures? Then today is your lucky day! Here's a link to "Harry Potter at Home", part of JK Rowling's website for all things Potter, including other wizardy-type writings by Ms. Rowling, quizzes, instructions for drawing a few different magical creatures, and so many articles to read!
https://www.wizardingworld.com/collections/harry-potter-at-home Here is the link to virtual learning with VT PBS. You don't need internet to access this. They are doing, at least, Grades 2-12. Check the website daily for updates.
https://www.vermontpbs.org/at-home-learning/ Here's the description from their website: "Vermont PBS has partnered with the Vermont Agency of Education to provide for continuity of learning for Vermont students and school communities during the COVID-19 outbreak, allowing Vermont teachers and students access to free educational resources via television broadcast throughout the duration of school closures. Beginning April 6th, Vermont PBS will air specialized learning content each weekday from 7am-3pm on our MAIN channel and 12pm-5pm on our PLUS+ channel. Combined with the resources found below, teachers and caregivers can develop an at-home curriculum that includes activities, assignments and learning objectives." (See the website for resources) Are you interested in engineering, innovation, how things work? Check out the American Precision Museum in Windsor VT! ....Virtually, of course! Housed in a 19th-century factory,
"The American Precision Museum combines the atmosphere of an original 19th century factory building with a world-class collection of historic machines. The 1846 armory building, the “Shaping America” exhibition and accompanying programs explore industrial history in the context of innovation, creative problem solving, and the impact of precision manufacturing on American history and culture" (from their website). The website for the Museum is full of information about American inventors and the things they have dreamed up to move forward our economy and make our lives easier. As the mother of someone who is about to earn his degree in electro-mechanical engineering, I can attest to the fascination, for those so minded, of these exhibits! How about a virtual trip to a museum? Here are a few to get you started:
