Additionally, online services such as Hoopla and Overdrive/Libby are accessible without charge for Pittsfield residents and taxpayers. Non-residents can also enjoy these services with an annual membership fee of $20.
Animals in the Library Policy – Approved 05/21/2024
No pets are allowed in the library. Only service animals are permitted. An exception to this policy is for a librarian initiated program that that includes animals.
About Library Cards
All residents of Pittsfield and surrounding areas are welcome to acquire a library card. The policy is that the library card expires in two years. It is a patron’s responsibility to reach out to the library to provide current contact information as they renew their library card.
Background: In the distant past, library cards remained in place forever, with a minimal amount of patron information captured resulting in incomplete and often obsolete information. More recently patrons have been entered into our online system one by one as they have used library services, still with minimal contact information.
Two situations need to be remedied. This is primarily to comply with those whose services the library uses such as Hoopla, Libby, Inter Library Loan, and the support we receive from the state library. First, we need to ensure we have current contact information for our patrons. Second, existing patron data with incomplete information needs to be updated.
