Teens Wanted!
Looking for Volunteer hours for school?  Traci Templeton will be running an Afterschool Program at the Library May 9th from 3:30- 5pm. She is looking for some extra hands for a Mother’s Day craft project. Cool enough for your mom too!  If you are interested in helping out, she will be at the Library on Tuesday May 7th from 3-6.  Stop in and see her for details or email her at tracitempleton@hotmail.com.

Kids - celebrate MOM and Spring May 9th
On Thursday, May 9th the library is happy to host our first after school program in our new space.  Come ready for story time, making a SURPRISE present for mom for mother’s day, and taking out a new library book or two!  Snack provided.  The program begins afterschool and ends at 5pm.  Kids can ride the school bus to the library where someone will meet them and walk them into the Library. PARENTS - read our after school program policy here.
We encourage you to sign up by emailing Traci your child’s name, age and school. Her email is tracitempleton@hotmail.com.

Bike Social and Open House May 19th
This will be the kick off to our summer programs, and a great chance to connect with your community! Bring your bike, volunteers will be leading rides for a variety of levels and ages - from adult to tiny. All the rides will conclude around 4:30 at the Roger Clark Memorial Library where we will gather for a community pot luck dinner and Library open house. We'll have supplies on hand to decorate bikes in anticipation of the Memorial Day parade the following week. Get in touch with Marion or Traci if you'd like to lead a ride, bring a grill, or offer a door prize for the open house. Don't want to bike? We still want you at out community dinner!

Kid's Summer Reading Program
We invite parents with children ages 3 and up to our “Dig Into Reading Program.”  This six-week program will start at 3:30 PM on Tuesdays, June 18th thru July 30 (we will not meet July 2).  The program is designed to keep children reading and learning thru the summer.  We will provide a reading journal to track the number of books or hours your child reads.  Each week collect a new sticker for your journal, sit in on story time (great for parents of infants too) do an activity and take out more books. Collect all six stickers and receive a prize at the end of the program.
Be one of the first 25 to sign up and receive a backpack to carry your books in.
Contact Erica Hurd at 802.558.8871 or Heather Harvey at 802.353.8485.

Guidelines for Kid Programs
Children of all ages are welcome to attend our programs.  However, children 2nd grade and younger require a parent present.  Parents are encouraged to accompany an older child who may benefit from your guidance.

Parents are responsible for their children while they are attending library programs, including when the child is dropped off by bus, or when the parent chooses to leave the building or program site. This program starts at 3:45 and end promptly at 5 pm.

Be sure to SAVE THE AFTERNOON of May 19th for an open house and BIKE SOCIAL.  We are still working out the details, but we plan some fun family bike activities (including decorating bikes for the memorial day parade,) a community pot luck dinner, and an open house in the Library.  If you are willing to lend a hand (lead a bike ride, bring a BBQ grill, donate a door prize for the open house) let us know (just reply to this e mail.)

WORK DAY
This week on Tuesday the 9th from 3 to 8 we’ll have a casual drop in work day.  Come for an hour, or stay for the whole afternoon.  No experience is needed.  We’ll be building shelves, cataloging books and lots more.

AFTER SCHOOL CRAFT
On May 9th library Volunteer Traci Templeton has something up her sleeve.  She’ll be helping kids create a special craft that they just might want to share with Mom on mother’s day.  We’ll get details on all these programs on our web site and Facebook page soon.  But for now just remember you can take the bus from Stockbridge or Killington Elelmentary right to the Pittsfield Library.

SUMMER READING
We have a new band of volunteers (thank you Erica & Heather) putting together an amazing series of summer reading programs for young kids (age 2 to 6 - older and younger siblings welcome).

SUMMER FOR TEENS
It will be hard to top her great work at the gingerbread decorating party,  but volunteer Dana Decker is planning some very cool (she even used the term mind blowing!) tie die design workshops.

SUMMER READING FOR THOSE IN BETWEEN
Don't worry, you won't be left out, we have a couple of cool ideas for you too!

We can’t wait to see you in the library.  We’re open 3 to 6 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  We have Wi-Fi, a brand new computer for patrons AND free coffee!
