Backyard Scavenger Hunt (Kids)
My wonderful sons helped me install Pittsfield's first StoryWalk today! Come on down to the Library, and walk your way through the delightful Over in the Forest, Come and Take a Peek, by Marianne Berkes, a sweet counting book featuring forest dwellers. Maybe you'll see some as you stroll! Enjoy the adventure of tracking down the next page, and marvel in the wonder of outside exercise while you read!
Please wear masks and maintain 6 feet of distance in the presence of others not of your household, and please refrain from touching the pages. This is a lovely spot in our beautiful capital city, Montpelier. Here are their words, from the website:
"For 22 years North Branch Nature Center has put people in touch with the sights, sounds and sensations of the wild within our capital. North Branch Nature Center has become an integral part of outdoor recreation and learning in central Vermont, serving 10,000 visitors annually. Our 28-acre preserve of forest and fields is nestled in a gentle bend of the North Branch of the Winooski River, just two miles from downtown Montpelier. North Branch is firefly light sparkling in a child’s eye. It is a lecture hall where we learn the secrets of warblers and willows and weather. And it is a quiet place to walk or ski, swim or sit, or simply to do nothing beside the river." If you don't want to drive to Montpelier, they've greatly expanded their online presence during the pandemic. Check out their whole website, full of great information, here: https://northbranchnaturecenter.org/ TODAY IS THE DAY, Library Community! Welcome to the Scavenger Hunt! Here are the easy rules: Find everything on the list and post photos of your finds over on our Facebook page:
