We can't go out and do the things we used to do. But books never close! Instead of planning an old-school night on the town, plan an evening in with your favorite book! On Friday, May 8th, I'll be tuned into Facebook, posting photos of my reading adventure here at home, and I'll be asking you to share yours! Maybe you'll build a cozy blanket fort, or perhaps you're more of a dignified armchair reader. Snuggle with the dog? On your front porch? In the kitchen while dinner cooks? Take a picture and share it on the Library's Facebook page! Even though we must remain physically distant, we can still create and share community.
Let's have an At-Home Reading Adventure!

Spruce Peak Performing Arts in Stowe is offering a Wednesday Night Music Series. Tune in and get your groove on!
Join us each Wed at 7pm for a live, approx. 30-minute virtual concert with a talented member of the Spruce Peak Arts community! This is a great way to celebrate and support musicians during this difficult time. In the spirit of connecting as a community, please be aware that a live online concert, streamed from an artist’s home, is a new adventure. It doesn’t matter if you are in LA or rural Vermont, COVID is rocking the internet grid and bandwidth issues may arise. We appreciate your patience, and hope you enjoy these concerts! https://www.sprucepeakarts.org/wednesday-night-music-series/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtsRD4iK0mA Here's a fun little video with visual instructions for some very beautiful, interesting science experiments. Most of these experiments involve color, so they are a delight to look at! With them, you can explore topics such as the density of liquids, primary and secondary colors, and chemical reactions. Here at my house, we have done a few of these experiments. They are a lot of fun! Supplies include generally easy-to-find items such as food coloring, vegetable oil, and a few other items. https://youtu.be/ziymnYrLAv4 This week's story is Henry and Mudge and the Forever Sea, by Cynthia Rylant, a sweet story about a fun day at the beach. Great for all ages, especially those under 8. Enjoy! Here is some information from Lindy Stetson, co-principal of Stockbridge Central School. If you have children to register for Preschool or Kindergarten, there is a new process. Read on:

Don't we like a good story? Sure we do! And thankfully Levar Burton knows this. If you've never heard Mr. Burton read, now is your chance--and you are in for a treat! A wide-ranging, excellent collection of short stories coupled with his wonderful renderings makes this an opportunity for relaxation and escape that you've been waiting for, all while staying safely at home!

It's National Library Week, and what a time to contemplate what a Library is! How do you still use the Library? How do you create "Library Space" at home? I'd love to hear about how you've been making use of our resources in this time of staying at home. Post on social media, and tag Roger Clark!
Maybe you or your child have read some of the wonderful Mo Willems books we have at our Library, like Today I Will Fly! or Should I Share My Ice Cream?. (Side note: I once heard a mom read the title of this book to her young child, and the child promptly responded: "NO." Kids are the best!) Here is a link to a series of 15 videos called Lunch Doodles with Mo Willems. They are very sweet, lots of fun for children who have read the books, but also really fun to watch and draw along with for anyone!
