After a 3 month hiatus, the RCML book club came together on 9/23 at The Clear River Tavern to discuss 3 books we rotated among 5 members. We read 3 non-fiction books called: What Remains, by Carol Radziwill, The Education of an Idealist, by Samantha Power, and Freedom Summer(the Mississippi Summer Project in 1964), by Bruce Watson. We had a lively discussion for sure and now we are ready for a novel. Our gathering included a new member, Melissa, & we hope to meet 3 more new members at our October 21st meeting, which should take place at The Clear River Tavern at 6pm. Our new book is called Big Lies in a Small Town, by Diane Chamberlain. It's a novel of chilling intrigue, a decades-old disappearance, and one woman's quest to find the truth. Both events take place in North Carolina, one in 1940 and one in 2018. Get in touch with Erica, [email protected], or Micheline, [email protected] for more info.
