A little over one year ago we at the Roger Clark memorial Library were planning our annual fundraiser. You may recall there was a competitive Pig Kissin’ battle underway with jars at the Pitt-Stop. The party was scheduled for Sunday August 28th. We postponed the event due to weather (a good call in hindsight).
So what happened to the money in those jars? Like other Pittsfield community members, we immediately began working to fill needs in our community. We converted the library Pig Kissin’ jars to Irene assistance jars. The Jars were out at the first town wide cook-out, and stayed out at the Pitt-Stop & Original General Store collecting funds.
We raised $5,867.00. We spent $3,567 on dumpsters to remove Irene debris from homes, roads and rivers in our community. 5 dumpsters were brought to town, and 16 tons of waste and debris from Irene was carted away as a result of the efforts of Library volunteers and community members.
The remaining $2334.33 has been passed on to the Pittsfield Hurricane Relief fund managed by the church. We are proud to be part of the Pittsfield community, and proud to have played a part on our community’s recovery efforts.
Halloween at the Library
Yahoo! We are getting back in gear at the RCML! We hosted our first community program since the town office building renovation began. This year we gave new books to keep to over 130 trick-or treaters. We also organized a candy drop to help spread the expense of candy for all those little zombie’s and princess more evenly around the community.

We NEED your help
We need about 10 hours of semi-skilled carpentry work to get the shelves safely in place so we can fill them with books. Can you help? E mail firstname.lastname@example.org
