April is Poetry Month, and to inspire the kids for their block print designs, I read some poetry having to do with signs of Spring. The kids sketched their initial drawings on paper and then traced them to styrofoam plates. We worked with primary colors to come up with awesome color combos and went to work rolling, pressing, and pulling. It was incredible to watch the energy build as each kid's print was revealed and they set off to start a new drawing. Once they got the hang of it, there was no stopping them. Eunice took the troops that were done with their prints out to the playground while some happy printers stayed behind for more printmaking. Once again, thank you to the parents and grandparents who helped out. This program could not run so smooth without you!
This ends our After school Spring program, what a huge success!~ great kids, great parents, great programs, great library! We look forward to seeing you in the Fall. Remember, I am always looking for ideas, people interested in running a program, and parent volunteers.
Have a great summer, see you at the library. -traci
