up for our inaugural Afterschool Program since re-opening the Roger Clark Memorial Library in January.
We had a handful of kids on board for our ‘Mother’s Day’ present making program. After a quick snack
and a look at the library’s NEW picture books and NEW junior fiction the group got busy with their
projects.
The Kids started with plastic recycled containers, pens, duct tape of various sorts, thrift-store silk flowers,
glue, colorful pipe cleaners, dirt, and flowering plants. With this assortment kids crafted a bouquet of
flowering pens, a recycled pen container and a recycled hanging basket for mom with some dirt and a nice
flower to finish it off. They had fun and worked hard for an hour and a half. The results were amazing and
we are sure there were a lot of happy MOMS this past Saturday.
We had a busy afternoon at the library with not only the afterschool program, but several new library
cards that were handed out, a bunch of visitors, a patron hanging out reading up on Pittsfield in the
Historical section, and volunteers cataloguing all the NEW books that have been purchased this month. It
is great to see the library thrive and the hard work of our volunteers pay off!
Next up, we invite the community to come check out your library on Sunday, May 19th for the Roger
Clark Memorial Library Open House and Bike Social. Bike rides/skills course start at 3:15, Potluck starts
at 4:30 and the Library is open for all to see. We will also being kicking off our summer 2013 reading
program. We look forward to seeing you SUNDAY!
