Mascoma account to be closed and assets transferred to Lake Sunapee Bank to facilitate easier access as more branches available to facilitate ease of banking.
Universal Class sponsored by Vermont Department of Libraries discussed. Marion to add link and access code 20576200000 to website. Patrons can access content online with access code and their three digit library number.
Halloween plans discussed. Marion offered to go to Montepelier DOL to obtain books for collection as well as book giveaway. Board authorised purchase of additional books if needed. Decision made to solicit candy donations to be shared with interested homeowners in the village center. Marion will canvas homeowners regarding interest. Erica will contact KES, SES and Swiss Farm Market to ascertain willingness to serve as drop zones. Karen will send email request for donation to list. Donations to be distributed to homeowners who express interest. Suggestion made to request orange cones to be placed on Route 100 by Fire Dept to slow traffic during Trick or Treating. Coral will contact Fire Dept. Library witch needed. Sharon to be solicited.
Previously obtained trade name to be cancelled by Martha. It had been obtained per bank suggestion, but turned out to be unnecessary and a potential liability. Board authorised move.
The advisability of increasing insurance discussed. Erica noted that the entire contents of the building currently insured for $40,000 under town policy. Erica will discuss with Town Clerk the possibility and price of increasing coverage to reflect value of library content.
Use of EIN number to avoid taxation when purchasing goods for library encouraged. All present made aware of EIN number.
Martha to order "discard stamp" to be used on books culled from collection. She will also investigate if RCML might obtain an Amazon Prime Account without fee as a non-profit.
Recruitment of new board members to replace Sharon Mayer and eventually other retiring members discussed. Coral encouraged to accept position. It was also noted that Wendy Reese expressed willingness to serve as trustee..
Future programming discussed. A Soup and Paint suggested for November and the annual Gingerbread House event for December. Erica to contact Traci re: the former and Dana re: the latter. Spring programming to be determined at a later date.
Erica reported submitting Summer Reading Program evaluation to the VtDOL and ordering supplies for next year's program.
Next two meetings scheduled for Nov 1st and Dec 6th.
